Early Elementary Beginner Halloween Piano Sheet Music [Free Download]
My first piece to share with you is indeed free and comes with a fun little activity page for your beginning (Primer Level) students.
Halloween! is an early elementary one-page song in Middle C Position for beginning piano students.
Halloween! is a cute little Early Elementary Halloween song + worksheet for your Primer Level students. It’s a one-pager in Middle C Position with lots of finger number hints so your little beginners can play a great sounding spooky season tune even if they’ve just started lessons this fall!
The lyrics of the song talk about how you can be anything you want on Halloween–silly or spooky! The worksheet guides students to think about what dynamics, tempo, and articulation matches their ideal Halloween costume.

Along with this one-page song, you’ll find a worksheet to guide students to envision tempo, dynamics, and articulations to match their ideal Halloween costume. Have them write in their choices before playing “Halloween!”
This song/worksheet is available to download and print for free on my resource website:

The second piece is also free and also comes with an accompanying activity worksheets for Primer to Level 1 piano students.
Your elementary piano students will be excited to celebrate the spooky, chilly days leading up to Halloween with this two-page piano solo + activity sheet.
October Eve disguises itself as a fun little story about staying up late on a spooky October night. But, don’t be fooled! This piece packs a lot of technique into its two pages!
Students will review:
- Legato vs staccato
- D minor pentascale
- 3/4 time signature
- Left hand melody / Right hand accompaniment
- Crossover of LH thumb to B-flat
- Harmonic 2nds, 3rds, 4ths, 5ths in succession in both hands
- D.C. al Fine
- Creative student decisions for tempo and dynamics

The activity page invites students to envision a spooky October night. What do they see and hear? What is the mood? Then, students will translate their vision into an appropriate tempo and dynamics (which they can write into the sheet music before playing).

The lyrics read:
Cold winds are blowing this evening. Oh, what a chill in the night. This time of year brings a tingling feeling I’d label as fright.
Bats are flying. Moonlight reflects on their wings. Wolves are crying. These are the usual Halloween things.
I guess that I should be sleeping, dreaming ’til dawn brings its light. Sounds in the night sky are keeping my eyes wide open tonight.
Late Elementary Halloween Piano Sheet Music

Next, we’re heading To the Haunted House! Personally, it’s a hard pass on entering a haunted house for me! But my kiddo (8th grader) loves planning a haunted house trip with a group of friends.
I’m sure your middle and high school students will enjoy imagining a weekend plan to visit the local haunted house with friends! Of course, they’ll pick out their costumes and get all dressed up for their outing. Will they make it all the way through the haunted house? Or will they be too scared to make it to the exit?
Written for a Late Elementary level student (Level 2-3), this three-page song in the key of G Minor will challenge students while giving them a fun seasonal piece to play for a recital, for friends, or just for fun.
This 3/4 piece reminds me of the Alfred Hitchcock theme song. It give the impression of tiptoeing through a spooky house with light staccatos throughout. Students will be challenged by the key signature (but lots of hints are included for those E-flats), left hand melody with right hand accompaniment, and staccato chromatic passages.
Students will review:
- 3/4 time signature
- G minor key signature
- Crossover of LH thumb
- Harmonic 2nds, 3rds, 4ths, 5th patterns in succession
- Chromatic scales
- Lots of staccatos
- Long crescendos/diminuendos
- Fast tempo (students can pick…how fast can they get it?)

The lyrics read:
All of my friends have invited me to have some Halloween fun. They say it’s going to be frightening when it’s all said and done.
Costume store first. Then we’re immersed into our roles, spooky characters. Into the house, still as a mouse. But we know there will be something jumping…
Out of a dark corner over there. Don’t you dare run out of fear! This is a haunted house. Don’t you dare close your eyes, if you’re wise, I’d advise, a surprise will appear!

Late Elementary to Early Intermediate Halloween Sheet Music
New Moon I’m going to call Very Early Intermediate. A piano student in Piano Adventures Level 3B could definitely tackle this piece (possibly an ambitious Level 3A student).
I wrote this piece Halloween week in 2024. We had a new moon on Halloween night, which was pretty cool! But this short, haunting piece can be enjoyed year-round.
This piece allows students to explore coordinating a syncopated left hand pattern to a right hand melody on the beat. This type of hands together coordination is critical for most pop music arrangements. So piano students who endeavor to play pop and rock styles will really benefit from this challenge.
Left hand reaches no farther than a 5th, while right hand is the one reaching (one-octave arpeggios and beyond) along with two-octave descending scales.

This piece is in the key of D Minor and is written in 4/4 time. It’s only two pages long but repeats the first page for a nice recital performance length for an intermediate student looking for something a little on the easier side that still impresses.

Early Intermediate Halloween Piano Sheet Music
Autumn Skies is perfect for a student who doesn’t celebrate Halloween or isn’t into the spooky vibes. This three-page piece is a true Early Intermediate Level making it ideal for your Level 4 students (or Level 3B students ready for a challenge with hands big enough to stretch the left hand arpeggios).
During the fall season, the sky can bring us sunny afternoons, foggy mornings, gorgeous sunsets, and storm clouds rolling in. The wind can pick up at any time. Autumn is a time of transition. And this early intermediate original piano solo reflects those seasonal moods.

What challenges will early intermediate piano students face in this piece?
- Tricky right hand/left hand coordination
- Clean pedal lifts
- Rubato
- Left hand crossover arpeggios
- Key change (A minor to E minor)
- Parallel 6ths in the right hand
- Syncopated patterns in the left hand accompaniment
- Big ending with a right hand ascending scale run and a hands together descending arpeggio
With its emotive New Age style, this piece would really shine at a recital performance any time of year. A student who wants to show off their speed and end with a bang while also showing emotion and expression will love performing this piece!
Intermediate Halloween Piano Sheet Music

Circus Misfits invites us into another side of Halloween vibes–a carousel ride gone wrong. If you’re seeking a creepy clown feel, look no further! Circus Misfits delivers in oddly beautiful way.
While this quirky waltz brings listeners to the creepy circus, it also mirrors a lot of 3/4 waltz classical techniques and patterns reminiscent of Chopin or other Romantic era composers. Wonderfully chromatic with harmonic surprises, this piece will transport listeners while challenging the player.

Students learning this piece will enjoy the challenge of…
- 3/4 Waltz Feel
- Moving LH triads/7th chords w/waltz bass accompaniment throughout
- Big LH octave jumps w/ strategic pedaling
- RH crossover scales & arpeggios
- Staccato LH/Legato RH
- Triplets
- Chromatic scale passages for the RH
- Rubato
- D.S. al Fine
Don’t be fooled when looking over this piece. It is harder than it looks! Hands will need to twist and turn with crossovers and chromatic scales. The left hand will need to master a bit of stride piano technique. Although an early intermediate student could have fun learning this piece, a true intermediate level is required to master the articulation, speed, and steadiness.
