My students absolutely love seasonal games, worksheets, and activities–especially Christmas music games! And, of course, the Christmas season starts (according to the retail world) really early. So I’m always looking for fresh ideas to entertain and engage my piano students.

Christmas Train Matching Puzzle Sets
The first of five Christmas music games is my Christmas Train Matching Puzzles Sets!
My students love these matching sets! The beauty of these is that they work well as a Christmas music game for a group setting, but they work just as well as an independent activity if I’m working with another student.

Christmas Rhythm Bingo
My second of five Christmas music games is Christmas Rhythm Bingo!
Bingo games are a go-to for me because everyone already knows how to play bingo, and no matter their age, everyone seems to enjoy it!
This Christmas Rhythm Bingo game reviews basic note values:
- Quarter Notes & Rests
- Half Notes & Rests
- Dotted Half Notes
- Whole Notes
- Pairs of Eighth Notes
The game comes with three levels included:
- Level 1: shows rhythm, phrase & picture
- Level 2: shows rhythm & picture (no words)
- Level 3: shows rhythm only
The three levels make differentiation with two different-leveled students super easy!
Christmas Tree Chord Puzzles
The third of five Christmas music games is Christmas Tree Chord Puzzles.
These unique 3-piece printable matching puzzles are a great way to teach or review major triads and minor triads.
Piano students need basic chord knowledge! We all know this. But it can be hard to find resources to help with chords/triads since they are specific to the piano.
These adorable puzzles can be printed in Primary Level to Intermediate Level.
Student can learn to build triads using:
- Letter Names
- Piano Keys
- Notes on the Staff
Christmas Compose With Dice
The fourth of five Christmas music games is more of a music composition activity: Compose With Dice, Christmas edition.
This is a cute and fun way to gamify music composition for beginning piano students while teaching and reinforces scale knowledge.
But to summarize, students are given a sheet with a major pentascale, lyrics, a simple left hand part, and a few key melody notes. Students will roll the dice to determine which right hand melody notes they will be adding to complete the song.
This activity is definitely dimensional and covers these concepts:
- composing at the piano
- pentascale knowledge (5-note major scales on the piano)
- drawing notes
- note and rest values
- ear training
- identifying notes on the staff
But the beauty of this activity is that students just think they are playing a fun Christmas music game!

Christmas Music Theory Puzzles
The final of five Christmas music games is Christmas Music Theory Puzzles.
Sometimes you need an independent activity for a student to work on without your assistance. These puzzles are perfect for a student who needs to work independently!
This puzzle set comes with 90 puzzles, so there’s something for every student!
The puzzles feature adorable holiday-themed clipart.
Included in the set:
- Piano key names
- Notes on the staff
- Ledger line notes on the staff
- Intervals on the staff (harmonic and melodic)
- Musical symbols
Print only the pages you want to work on. You can even have the student cut out their own puzzles if they need some additional review [or you need them to stay occupied a little longer].
